Newborn and Baby Video + Photos FAQ
When should I book a Newborn / Baby photoshoot?
The best time to book your newborn session is before your baby is born, but you can book your Newborn or Baby session with me any time. Even when you don't have a newborn anymore, but an older baby, you can schedule your session. I have limited availability, so if you have a date in mind, it's best to reach out early to make sure you get it! For Newborn bookings simply select a date 1-2 weeks after you're due, pay the deposit (1/3 of the session), and you are all set! And no stress if the baby is born early or late, we can always adjust the timing.
When should newborn photos be taken?
I like to do newborn sessions during the first 4 weeks of the baby's life. That being said, if you need more time to recover from delivery, that's okay, too! Newborn and Baby lifestyle sessions are all about real moments and real life, so the timing is the least important factor.
How long does a newborn video + photo session take?
I offer two options regarding the length of a session depending on what you want to cover: 4 hours (regular session called A Day In The Life), and 1 hour and half (shorter session called A Moment In The Life). More details on the Price Guide, which request button is down the page.
What should we wear for a newborn baby photoshoot?
During a lifestyle newborn in-home sessions, the family should wear what you would normally be wearing at home. Having said that, dressing in bright colors or busy patterns is often distracting to the viewer. Neutrals do not have to mean a plain white T-shirt. I consider neutrals as a palate of gray, navy, tan, white, ivory, soft blue, soft pink, etc. Stick to solid colors or a simple pattern (stripes are a big no). Try to avoid logo or branded clothing as this will date. So keep it casual and comfy. Remember we are documenting a normal day of your life.
Where can we film a Newborn session?
We can film it as a Fresh 48 hours at the hospital / birthing center / at home, or as Newborn / Baby session at your home. All we really need is a bed and a window. :)
How long will it take to receive the film and photos?
It varies based on my schedule and the amount of video/images taken. I will commit to 30 days just to be safe, but I want to deliver them to you as fast as possible. Photos will probably be delivered first, then the film and prints.
Why is video more expensive?
A film generally takes anywhere from 15-20 hours (sometimes even longer) to create. Video requires a great deal of time spent editing to get things just right, far more time than it takes for photos. It might seem expensive, but I guarantee you it's worth it and the value of that film will increase with every year that goes by after you've had it made.
